SHADY COVE, Ore. -- Rogue Community Health wants to help students get check-ups before the school year starts. That's why they're holding back-to-school health fairs today and tomorrow.
Today's health fair will be at Shady Cove Elementary School from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tomorrow's health fair will be at Hillside Elementary in Eagle Point from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. You do not need an appointment to come to these health fairs.
Doctors and nurses will have equipment to do different types of exams. This way, coming to the health fair will be a one stop shop, according to Ceci Robe, the School Health Program Director at Rogue Community Health.
Students can get wellness exams, sports physicals, dental check-ups, vaccinations and vision and hearing screenings. Doctors said it is important for young students to get a check-up each year.
"It's preventative," Robe said. "It's better to prevent than to try to remedy it later on. If you can catch it early and be on top of things, it will make for a much better outcome."
Rogue Community Health will bill your insurance for this check-up. If you don't have insurance, don't worry. There will be people to help your student get insurance for the future.
After students get a check-up, they will be able to get a free backpack filled with school supplies.
