ASHLAND, Ore-- Late last week, Rogue Retreat and the City of Ashland announced that they will be teaming up to create a new Urban Campground for the city of Ashland.
The plan, is to open up the campground by June of 2021, and have plenty of tent sites and at least 10 Pallet Shelters.
Ashland was awarded a 300,000 dollar grant recently from the State of Oregon Emergency Shelter Grant-CARES act. The funding, will help address the need for non-congregate shelter for homelessness households and will help prevent the spread and mitigate the effects of COVID-19.
The grant from Oregon Housing and Community Services will allow the city to partner with Rogue Retreat to establish and run and urban campground in Ashland.
The city and Rogue Retreat have yet to identify and secure a location for the campground but are in the process of vetting possible locations and hope to secure one the next couple of months.
