ASHLAND, Ore--- According to the Ashland School District, district superintendent Kelly Raymond announced her resignation from the Ashland School District and shared plans to move closer to her family in Washington State.
Raymond has been the superintendent since 2017 when she was the Ashland School Board's unanimous decision.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here,” Ms. Raymond said. “This district has a dedicated, truly excellent team of
teachers, student support staff, and administrators. The equity work we’ve done is particularly close to my
heart. We’ve improved student achievement, restored the fund balance, and also passed an important bond
together. This community is very supportive of education; thank you for all the ways that you made working
here in Ashland a real pleasure.”
On Saturday, the Ashland School Board voted unanimously to make Ashland Middle School principal Steve Retzlaff the acting superintendent.
There will be another board meeting on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss how the position will be filled.
