ASHLAND, Ore. — Asante welcomed the first southern Oregon baby of the new year in the early hours of Friday morning, the medical provider announced.
30-year-old Laurie Davis and her husband, 33-year-old Tyler Davis, said hello to their daughter Iris Anne Davis at 4:14 a.m. on Friday. She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces at birth and measured 20 inches long.
Iris is the Talent couple's first child, and Asante said that they have been married for a little over one year. Laurie grew up in the Sams Valley area, and Tyler is a Talent native.
"Laurie chose a water birth at Asante Ashland Community Hospital and was attended by Laura Letts, a certified nurse midwife with Asante Physician Partners in Ashland," Asante said in a statement.
There were three other New Year's babies born at Asante hospitals — a boy at 8:11 a.m. and a girl at 9:54 a.m. at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, and a boy at 8:07 a.m. at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
"Our congratulations to all the new parents and our wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead," Asante said.
