GOLD HILL, Ore. — Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of a former Gold Hill city clerk accused of stealing money from the city.
According to the City of Gold Hill, Carry Kay Booker (aka Carry Randall) was indicted in April on multiple charges for theft and falsifying business records. She failed to appear in court for an arraignment on July 7, and the arrest warrant was issued on July 16.
Gold Hill city manager and recorder Jessica Simpson discovered Booker's alleged theft in February 2020 while reconciling bank statements, which is part of her duties as finance director for the City. After the discovery, officials started a forensic audit that was completed by June of last year.
The Jackson County District Attorney's office chose to pursue charges against Booker after receiving evidence from the City, officials said.
"The City remains hopeful that justice will be served, and thanks the residents for their patience while awaiting resolution in this matter," Gold Hill said in a statement.
