JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. -- Rural Metro Fire in Josephine County says a few spot fires along Interstate 5 overnight were sparked by a different kind of "Fuel."
It says that at 10:41pm a Budget rental truck rolled over near milepost 61 southbound, spilling its load of Fuel Energy Drinks. It says though the engine compartment caught fire, a passerby quickly extinguished the flames, and the truck driver was transported to medical attention with non-life-threatening injuries.
RMF also say that at 2:52am a vehicle towing another vehicle on a U-HAUL car hauler experienced a brake fire as it was coming off Sexton Pass near milepost 69 southbound, sending flaming brake parts off the road to spark a brush fire that spread to about 1/10th acre.
It says the vehicle eventually came to a stop about a mile later, unloaded the towed vehicle, and both appeared to have left the scene.
Fire crews from Rural Metro Fire, ODF Southwest Oregon District and Grants Pass Fire Rescue extinguished all flames.
