MEDFORD, Ore. -- On Saturday September 4 at about 9:02 p.m., two officers responded to the 3100 block of Juniper Ridge Drive in Medford for a report of a home burglary.
The complainant, Carlos Sanders, 60 years old, confronted a neighbor accusing them of the crime.
While officers were walking up to the apartment, Sanders fired a handgun several times into the air.
The suspect retreated back into his apartment, and barricaded himself.
Nearby neighbors were evacuated.
SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene, but negotiations were not effective.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., SWAT forced entry through the front door.
The suspect was taken into custody using less lethal options, according to the Medford Police Department.
Sanders was lodged in the Jackson County Jail for Disorderly Conduct and Unlawful Use of a Firearm.
