MEDFORD, Ore.- Whiskey tasting, a DJ, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight are just some of the things you can expect if you stop by Four Daughters Irish Pub for New Year's Eve.

One of the bartenders there, Selena Simpson, told NewsWatch 12 that she will be keeping an eye out for customers who seem too intoxicated.

"As a bartender it's always good to suggest a cab or now that we have Uber, suggest they take an Uber and just be really careful with serving and making sure you're not over serving," says Selena.

She said she's not scared to cut someone off and she has even taken someone's keys before.

According to Safe Auto, there are 71% more crashes with drugs or alcohol as a contributing factor between December 31st at 6pm and January 1st at 6am compared to an average weekend night.

The owner of Valley Cabs, Craig Owen, told NewsWatch 12 that he expects his company to give gives to about 150 people tonight.

During an average weekend, he'll usually have 5 of his cars on the road but tonight he will have all 8.

According to Wallet Hub, over 350 traffic fatalities happen every year over the New Years holiday period.

Cab drivers won't be the only ones hoping to prevent car accidents tonight, bartenders are keeping a close eye on their patrons.

"Sometimes I've ended up driving people home after work," says Selena Simpson, a bartender at Four Daughters Irish Pub.

if you forgot to save a cab number in your phone, ask a bartender.

"We often have numbers behind any bar where you work or cab companies and a lot of people have uber now,' says Selena

Craig told me that the average cab ride at Valley Cabs is $12.

"You can take over 200 cab rides in Medford from the south tip to the north tip for the amount that it costs for one DUI," says Craig.

The number for Valley Cab is (541) 772-1818.

You can find numbers for other ways to get home here.
