UPDATE: According to Suzi Brady, the public information officer for Cal Fire SKU, the vegetation fire that is burning 7 miles west of Tulelake has grown to 600 acres and is 30 percent contained. However, NewsWatch 12 is being told that fire crews have stopped the growth of the fire and that the fire is 100 percent lined.
CAL Fire SKU is also telling us that they hope to have the fire 100 percent contained by the end of the night, but that there are still plenty of hots sports within the interior of the fire.
Brady says that this vegetation fire is the largest fire that crews are currently fighting. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
TULELAKE, Calif.-- According to Cal Fire SKU, a 500 acre vegetation fire has been discovered 7 miles west of Tulelake. The fire is currently 10% contained.
Cal Fire SKU says that no evacuations have been issued at this time and that structure threat has been mitigated.
