MEDFORD, Ore.,--72-year-old Buzz Thielemann calls himself a gym rat. Looking at him now, you wouldn't know the year he's been through. He was feeling healthy with no signs that anything was wrong when he got the call that changed everything.
"I think when anyone gets a cancer call it's like your world stops," says Buzz, after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The cancer was discovered at a routine physical and caught in it's early stages. Buzz was given lots of treatment options but felt overwhelmed with all the choices. That's when he learned about 4th Angel. It's a program that will match you with a mentor that has gone through this before. Buzz was matched with Jay, from Chicago.
"When Jay called me it was great because actually he steered me in a total different direction, some of the questions I had couldn't be answered by other people but he answered them," said Jay.
Now that he's cancer free, Buzz wants to give back. He's volunteered to be a 4th angel himself. He also ways to be an advocate for men to be aware of what's going on in their bodies and get tested regularly.
