21-year-old dies in Williams crash

Police responded to the crash Saturday morning and pronounced the driver, Philip Carpenter, dead at the scene.

WILLIAMS, Ore. -- The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call Saturday at 8:17 a.m. for service from a person in Williams. The caller said they had come across a car crash off Kincaid Road, Williams.

Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Williams Fire Department, responded to the scene and found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree off the side of the roadway. The driver was identified as Philip Carpenter and was pronounced dead at the scene. Carpenter was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. No witnesses have been located. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office at 541474-5123.
