MEDFORD, Ore. — Southern Oregon students inspired to go out and make a career for themselves may be under the impression that their only option is to leave the area — but local organizations are working together to show young people that there are plenty of great opportunities close to home.

"It's surprising how many businesses that you wouldn't think incorporate some pretty advanced technology actually have that," said Heather Stafford. "We have manufacturing companies, software companies, all kinds of different ways for students to plug in and look at work opportunities."

On Friday April 12, SOREDI and Rogue Workforce Partnership kick off their Spring Tech Tour. It's a free opportunity for students of Southern Oregon University, Oregon Institute of Technology, Rogue Community College and Klamath Community College to visit companies in the Grants Pass area for networking and discovering career opportunities.

"We promise that you’ll be surprised to find the many exciting opportunities that await you for high paying, exciting jobs right here in Southern Oregon," said SOREDI.
