Pet of the Week: Jake

Please help Jake find his forever home.

Posted: Aug 8, 2021 3:01 PM

Let’s meet our Pet of the Week for the first week of August.

Meet Jake! He's a sweet, sensitive guy, who is almost 2 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. Jake was brought into the shelter because his owner could no longer care for him and the landlord said he couldn't stay. Although he can be nervous when meeting new people, and also around loud noises, he will warm up over time. His previous owner says he's very active, affectionate and playful. He especially loves to play fetch and run around with toys. Since Jake lived with another dog in his last house, he probably would get along with one in his new home. However, he should probably meet your furry friends prior to adoption - just to make sure that everyone gets along. Jake would do best with an owner familiar with hounds, who would understand that he may occasionally want to do things like chase cats around. Jake is looking for someone who is willing to continue his training and take him on adventures. If you think that could be the one for you, Jake's adoption fee is $150, plus $25 for an annual dog license if you live in Jackson county. For more information, or to set up an appointment to meet him, please call the Jackson County Animal Shelter at 541-774-6654.

For those of you who are already pet owners and need to get your pet caught up on some shots, don’t forget the low-cost shot clinic coming up on August 21st. Please call the Jackson County Animal Shelter to make an appointment ahead of time at 541-774-6654. For more information, please visit fotas.org.
