In The Kitchen: Keeping a good routine

Keeping a Routine is KEY!

Posted: Apr 28, 2020 12:28 PM

1. Keeping a Routine is KEY!
Week day mornings we are up eating breakfast, getting dressed, making bed, and starting schoolwork by 8am. We love to start the day with the National Anthem from the World Series or Super Bowl. :)

2. Working in 15 min time blocks for our 1rst grader and a little longer for our 5th grader. We all need brain breaks so having this time to lego, origami, backyard explore, or snack is a good idea.

3. Every day MOVEMENT for the entire family. We all need this clarity - fresh air - and change of scenery. Biking, scooters, walks, soccer, baseball and more help reduce stress and process our emotions.

4. Mood enhancers! When you need to shift and pivot our attitude try a DANCE PARTY! Putting yourself in time out and on task. Our daughter goes in her room and plays with her Snap Beads.... (we love these)
Learning a few easy breathing exercises or having some reset time is good too.

5. Cooking and getting kids involved. They really just want to be around us so invite them to help with dishes, cleaning, menu, reading, snuggling, and food prep. We absolutely LOVE these kid's safe knives! Kid's Safe Knives click here for details

Parents... please know you are not alone. Some days will go great and others lousy. It is OK. We get to model how we handle the unknown of our worlds to our children. Share your feelings and show them how you 'get back up' and rally to make the most of the day. Focus on the present. Modifying your expectations and adjusting our timelines can be helpful. Let's focus our energies on what WE CAN DO rather than what we can't do.

Next time we will share some Wellness tools and techniques to help us become our best selves during these trying times and beyond.
