ASHLAND, Ore. -- A young man with cerebral palsy, who just wants to dance, is one step closer to his dream. That's because his middle school has adopted him as their sparrow.

Ashland Middle School adopted one of its own, Luke Laurenson, a 6th grader - as their Sparrow.

Luke was born with cerebral palsy. His mom says he's exceeded doctors expectations, saying they did not expect him to be able to talk, walk or attend school. Now he can talk with technology, walk with help and attends middle school.

On Wednesday, Ashland Middle School students said they would support Laurenson by doing community service for him to raise sponsored-money for him.  Through his "Talk Buddy" Laurenson said, "I can't believe the whole school knows me and it feels great."

Laurenson was adopted two years ago by his elementary school.
