ASHLAND, Ore. -- Housing Authority of Jackson County has opened Snowberry Brook II located at 2261 Villard Street.
The affordable housing units are accommodating to low income families, but don't cut costs when it comes to the quality of amenities.
Amenities include, Washer/Dryer, Air Conditioning, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, Patio with Storage, Playground, Computer Lab, and Community Center and On-Site Resident Services.
With all 60 units nearly completed, there are:
- Town-homes (957 Sq. Ftg.) : 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, rent $469-$660, 28 units
- Apartments (690 Sq. Ftg.) : 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, rent $320-$560, 10 units
- Apartments (907 Sq. Ftg.) : 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, rent $0-$660, 12 units
- Apartments ( 1200 Sq. Ftg.) 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, rent $624- $760, 10 units
In order to qualify for housing, households must have annual gross income less than the following amounts:
- 1 Person: 23,950
- 2 People: 27,350
- 3 People: 30,750
- 4 People: 34,150
- 5 People: 36,900
- 6 People: 39,650
- 7 People: 42,350
Of all the units, there are 3 full-accessible units and 1 hard of hearing unit.
Newswatch 12 spoke to Rich Rhode, the chair of the Housing and Human Services Commission, and he says this is a big step forward for low- income families in Jackson County.
Rhode said, "The Housing Authority of Jackson County, they've dedicated 25 units to the Maslow Project which works with homeless children and families in Ashland."
