Yreka Gold Thief Due in Court This July

David Johnson

YREKA, Calif. — One of the men accused of stealing gold and other artifacts from the Siskiyou County Courthouse, is scheduled to be back in court on July 9th. The other suspect is still at large.

David Johnson is accused of stealing more than a million dollars worth of items from a display case in the lobby of the court house last January. After a nearly year-long investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Johnson and a second suspect, Scott Bailey, who remains at large.

Johnson was arraigned last April on burglary charges. He is being held in the Siskiyou County Jail on $1 million bail.
