GRANTS PASS, Ore. — About a dozen juveniles in a correctional facility took control of a portion of the facility for five hours.
The incident started around 8 p.m. Sunday night at the Rogue Valley Youth Correctional Facility. Officials at the facility say the group took over a sleeping quarter unit with 90 kids inside.
Officials are not clarifying about exactly what a “take-over” of the facility means, but Oregon State Police SWAT and Grants Pass Police officers did respond to the scene.
“Right now we are just positioning them on different units so we can assess the situation and get the facility back in order,” said Jennifer Putnam with the Oregon Youth Authority.
No injuries were reported. This is still under investigation.
