Oregon’s Health Department reports from December 15th to the 21st, there were 67 flu hospitalizations. It’s nearly triple the amount of patients from the week before. The people coming in to the hospital were aged 25 to 49 years old.
Providence Medford Medical center says it’s too early to say if this will be a trend in Oregon because flu season is just starting.
“That could change in a week or two. Now that being said, more younger adults, people in their 20’s and 30’s, it’s likely they’re coming in and getting sick now because they haven’t gotten their flu shots,” explained spokeswoman, Hillary Brown.
Children and the elderly are the most vulnerable for the flu. Doctors recommend children and adults, wash their hands, stay home if you’re sick and get a flu shot.
