Woman Arrested In Medford For LA Murder

MEDFORD, Ore. — A woman has been arrested in Medford in relation to a murder in Los Angeles.

Oregon State Police said troopers arrested 24-year-old Laura Purviance early Friday morning at the Valley of the Rogue rest area along Interstate 5 about thirteen miles north of Medford. Purviance is wanted in connection with the murder of her mother in Los Angeles, California.

The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to a 911 call of a murder on Thursday, where they found a woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound. LAPD homicide investigation identified the woman’s daughter as the suspect in what they described as domestic violence and not a random act.

The suspect has not been lodged in jail at this time but remains in OSP custody. LAPD detectives are traveling to Oregon to continue their investigation.
