Woman Arrested for Medical Child Abuse

KATHERINE G. PARKERGRANTS PASS, Ore. — A Grants Pass woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon by officers from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety. The officers were serving an arrest warrant out of Multnomah County for a Katherine G. Parker, 44, who is being accused of coming up with an elaborate scheme to medically abuse her children.

The mother of eight is lodged in the Josephine County Jail and awaiting transportation to the Multnomah County Jail. The indictment was filed in Multnomah County Court Tuesday. Parker is facing 24 counts of Criminal Mistreatment, 4 counts of Identity Theft, multiple Assault charges, Unlawful use of a Computer charges, and even several charges of tampering with a witness.

Officials are being tight-lipped about the investigation, as it is still on-going. But, we do know that medical child abuse cases typically involve a parent who lies to a pediatrician about a child’s symptoms. We will have more on this story tonight on NewsWatch 12 at 5 & 6 PM.
