MEDFORD, Ore. – After much anticipation, winners have been crowned in the 5th annual Dancing with the Rogue Valley Stars Competition.
CH Chou took home the judges’ choice award, with Holly Roberts, a local court appointed special advocate, earning the popular vote.
Newswatch 12’s Christy Lewis and Alyssa Caroprese also walked away with awards.
Alyssa won the popular vote in the afternoon show and got third place in the evening show. Christy won second place for judges choice Saturday evening. But the real point of the event is to raise money for Sparrow Clubs and USA Dance.
In that respect, Sparrow Clubs leaders say there were plenty of winners.
“Last year the star fundraising efforts topped out at around $18,000, we grossed for the entire event about $41,000,” said Sparrow Clubs Executive Director Matt Sampson. “We’re already at that mark just from the stars’ fundraising efforts, so it’s going to be almost double the entire gross of last year’s… I just can’t believe it.”
Money from contestant fundraising and ticket sales go to support the two charities.
Newswatch 12 will be airing all of the performances on Christmas day at 6:00PM.
