Wildfire Road Closures and Evacuations

The wildfires burning in Southern Oregon and Northern California has prompted road closures and evacuations.

Highway 97 south of Klamath Falls has been closed to wildfire burning south of Oregon-California border along US 97. Oregon department of transportation advises motorists to use I-5. There is a detour at OR (W) 140 in Klamath Falls.

Siskiyou County: Sheriff’s Office has issued Evacuation Advisory for residents of Quartz Valley and Mugginsville. This notice is for all residents along Quartz Valley Road between Scott River Road and Oro Fino Road. An advisory evacuation simply means be prepared.

There are still Mandatory Evacuations for the Copco area residents that live one mile east of the town Copco to the Beaver Creek area. An evacuation center has been established at the Jackson Street Elementary School located at 405 Jackson Street in Yreka.

The Pacific Crest Trail is closed from Carter Meadows north to Etna Summit (more information at http://www.pcta.org/). The Shackelford Road 43N21 is closed from mile marker 1 to the Shackelford Trailhead. Shackelford Trail, Forest Trail 5542 is closed from the trailhead at 43N21 to the junction of Black Meadows Trail, Forest Trail 5549. Klamath County: Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 3 evacuation order for the Klamath River Canyon from John C. Boyle Dam to the California border. This includes Topsy Grade Road and Picard Road and all other normally accessible roads south of Highway 66 east to the Klamath County Line in Oregon. Level 3 evacuation means leave immediately.

Jackson County: There is still a Level One Evacuation for residents living along Highway 66 in Oregon. The addresses include anyone living between the 11,000 and the 22,000 block of Highway 66. This is on the Ashland side and does not impact people living in Keno. Level One means be prepared to evacuate.

Portions of Copco Road remain under a Level 3 Evacuation. Level 3 evacuation is in effect for the 6,000 block of Copco Rd headed South to Box D Ranch.
