Wildfires at California-Oregon Border

NEAR HORNBROOK, Calif. — Oregon Department of Transportation now says all lanes are now open 5 miles south of the Oregon border. Motorists should exercise caution as CalFire crews continue to fight a wildfire. This is near the agriculture check point.

Oregon Department of Transportation reported earlier this afternoon that Interstate 5 was closed to all northbound and southbound traffic 5 miles south of the Oregon border due to a wildfire.

CALFIRE says the Cottonwood Fire is in the Hornbrook area off I-5. It’s approximately 20 acres and 100% contained. The roads have re-opened and the closure lasted approximately 20 minutes.

No injuries or structures were reported lost, except for possibly a small outbuilding. The cause is under investigation.
