White House Race Could Affect Oregon

SALEM, Ore. — Oregon politicians are wondering if the race of the White House could determine the outcome of other races in our state.

In the 2008 election, enthusiasm for Barack Obama helped Democrats gain a super-majority in the Oregon House and Senate. Oregon Democrats are hoping this time around, support for the President will be enough to help carry them to victory in a number of close races for state office.

Meanwhile, state Republicans are hoping support for the President has weakened since the election four years ago.
