When Schools Decide To Close

MEDFORD, Ore. — With the possibility of a messy morning commute, many kids in the Valley probably fell asleep Monday night hoping for a delay.

Southern Oregon’s largest school district, Medford, explained how they determine to delay or cancel classes.

“Our superintendent as well as other staff, including the bus company, go out and check the roads, and we just see if people can get form point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ safely. Students’ safety is our number one concern,” said Medford School District’s Julie Evans

The district’s website and media are alerted securely by Medford staff around 6:00 a.m. if there are any delays or cancellations.
