MEDFORD, Ore. – Obesity affects more than 93 million Americans and that’s predicted to increase to 120 million within the next five years, but one local medical group is looking to change those numbers and is enlisting the help of the community.
Sunstone Medical Research is enlisting qualified candidates to their ‘light study’. A research study evaluating an investigative medication for weight loss. The light study includes a weight management program that is delivered through an internet-based platform called Weightmate provides a convenient, progressive nutrition and exercise program with goal setting and tracking tools.
Qualifications in order to participate in the study include, men age 45 or older, or women age 50 or older, have a need to lose weight and have heart disease and/or type 2 diabetes with certain heart risk factors. Coordinators say the screening process for candidates is very simple.
If you participate in the light study you may also have the opportunity to receive the investigative medication. Sunstone Medical Research reminds applicants this is investigative medication and so there is no guarantee that the study medication will cause you to lose weight.
