Weekend Water Rescue

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Saturday afternoon, Jackson County Fire District 3 responded to reports of an unconscious person in the Rogue River.

Crews were gold dredging near the old Gold Ray Dam when the current swept a man downstream in the water where he hit his head, knocking him out. The man’s coworkers pulled him out before rescue crews arrived.

Rescuers said he was combative upon arrival, going in and out of consciousness. The man was then flown in a Mercy helicopter to a nearby hospital for care.
