MEDFORD, Ore. – Brides-to-Be gathered at the Medford Armory this weekend for one of the biggest bridal shows of the year.
At the event guests taste-tested cakes, tried out photo booths, and saw bridal party collections walk the runway. Vendors from the area showcased their finest displays for crowds of guests.
Jes Webb, the coordinator and owner of Sights and Sounds Unlimited said that the organizers expected between 1,600 and 2,200 people to come to the event. “So what we will see are a lot of moms, and aunts and uncles, making preparations for the kids because they aren’t here in January. They won’t come back until the summertime for their wedding” Webb said.
Webb explained that preparation for the show started in the Spring, and marketing began about three months in advance. Webb also said social media has been a new important part of the bridal marketing process. He said many customers start the planning process over web pages.
Sunday, the expo featured a special event called the “Cake Dive.” Brides battled to be the fastest to find a $2,000 ring hidden inside a cake. Sunday was the last day of the wedding expo until next year.
