High pressure will build into the Northwest today. This is going to keep temperatures very mild and bring quiet weather to our forecast area. Low lying clouds and fog will break and lead to mostly sunny skies for the afternoon.
The Climate Prediction Center announced Thursday that there is a 50% chance for ENSO-neutral to end and El Nino to develop during the summer or fall. ENSO-neutral is forecast to remain though spring 2014, but if westerly winds continue to emerge
Temperatures are warming, and it is causing what little snow pack there is on Mount Ashland and Mount Shasta, to start to melt. The run-off helps to fill local reservoirs, but officials said those reservoirs are lower than year's past.
Local lawmakers are praising President Obama for supporting a House bill that could change the way wildfires are fought around the country. It would allow disaster relief funds to be used for catastrophic wildfires, many of which seen in Oregon.
