Water Deficits Going Into Summer Months

SISKIYOU CTY., Calif. — Water managers in Siskiyou County are likely getting nervous, after snow surveys revealed a low water year so far.

The Klamath National Forest says measurements put snow depth at 38% of normal for this time of year. Water content is 40%.

Those numbers are blamed on an unusually dry January and February along with warm temperatures. Totals ranged from just 17% of normal at Etna Mountain to 62% at Box Camp.
