SHORT SAND BEACH, Ore. — The Oregon Health Authority has issued a health advisory for water contact at Short Sand Beach.
The Health Authority says higher-than-normal bacteria levels were found at the Tillamook County beach. They said water samples taken from the area indicate higher-than-normal levels of fecal bacteria, which can result in diarrhea, stomach cramps, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections and other illnesses.
Visitors should avoid direct contact with the surf or water running into the surf. While this advisory is in effect at Short Sand Beach, visitors should avoid wading in nearby creeks or in discolored water, and stay clear of water runoff flowing into the ocean.
