Washington Hands OSU First Loss

Never before in Oregon State’s history had the football team started a season 7-0. That streak will continue as the Washington Huskies defeated the Beavers 20-17 on Saturday.

Sean Mannion returned from knee surgery but struggled to find a rhythm. OSU was trailing 10-0 at halftime, but rallied back in the 3rd quarter to tie the game. In the 4th however, Mannion three interceptions on three consecutive possessions and the Huskies took a 17-10 lead.

After Mannion’s fourth interception, head coach Mike Riley replaced him with backup Cody Vaz. Vaz made an immediate impact with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Connor Hamlett with just under five minutes remaining. A late Washington field goal ended the Beavers comeback thereby ending their winning streak.

Oregon State (6-1, 4-1) will host Arizona State (5-3, 3-2) on Saturday.
