GRANTS PASS, Ore. — The Red Cross is providing several warm shelters for those needing a warm place to stay.
In Josephine County there are two centers available. The first one is at the Josephine County Fairgrounds Arts Building. Volunteers are setting up chairs and beds. They also plan to provide some food and water for guests. So far, volunteers are helping transients coming in to get warm.
“People who came from the street and from the soup kitchen who are trying to get dry and get their clothes dried. This gentleman over here was trying to get his feet warmed up because he was walking with some sandals and stuff,” said Red Cross volunteer Brian Anderson.
The second center is at the Cave Junction City Hall. Red Cross may open another warming shelter in Wolf Creek.
