A warm and sunny afternoon Friday helped melt snowy and icy roads and sidewalks but overnight tonight temperatures will dip below freezing and without the liquid water evaporating we’ll see slick conditions again by tomorrow morning. This trend will continue the next few days until all the liquid finally evaporates, though road conditions will continue to improve into next week. High pressure building back in will lead to the return of freezing fog for west side valleys in the mornings which may be dense at times and an inversion will re-develop after yesterday’s disturbance which will lead to deteriorating air quality into next week. You can check current air quality levels on the weather homepage under ‘Weather Links.’
A cold front will bring showers to the area late Wednesday into Thursday with snow at the higher elevations and rain in the valleys. Not expecting freezing rain with this next system because of the warmer week on tap, unlike the unusually cold week this week. Stay warm and travel safe this weekend!
Thanks for logging on and have a great weekend!
