MEDFORD, Ore. — The fire that burned down a warehouse near downtown Medford last week started outside the building, according to the Medford Fire Department.
Crews said the fire began underneath a wooden canopy that connected the warehouse to the building next door along Fir Street. But the cause of the fire is still undetermined, because firefighters did not find enough evidence to point to a specific cause.
They said whatever sparked the fire had plenty of fuel in that area under the canopy.
“There were multiple items in there, just different products that they were storing in that area that could have caught on fire, and we suspect helped add fuel to the fire,” said Justin Bates with Medford Fire.
Medford Fire said its investigation is now closed, unless someone comes forward with new information about the fire.
