Walmart Opens In Three Days

MEDFORD, Ore. — The North Medford Wal-Mart along Highway 62 is re-opening Wednesday.

The store has been closed for almost a year now for remodeling.  Sitting between Lowes and Costco, it is going to be another large-scale business on the strip.

Some are concerned it will increase traffic in an already congested area.   Others believe the Wal-Mart will help the community, and are glad to see it re-open.

“Actually, it’s convenient because this area is growing so much all the time,” said consumer Lynda Haghan.  “So it will be a convenience as far as running by and grabbing a few things. I’ve missed it since it’s been gone.”

Restaurant owners also seem to be welcoming of the new Wal-Mart.The Wal-Mart is set to open September 11.

It may bring jobs but for the small business that sells the same thing can not compete with there prices. I have not been there in years mainly because of parking and when they came into town it was mainly for low income people they say they changed and got some more name brands in the store but for me I would pay extra some where els.

Out-of-state migrations are apparently providing us with folks with more money than brains. Good on them, but as for this “working class hero,” who gets his nails dirty everyday, I don’t have $50 to throw at a toaster from a local Mom and Pop on Main Street. Thanks, but I’ll gladly spend $20 at Walmart for my toaster, et al needs.
