Voters Elect To Merge Police Presence

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – The Josephine County Board of Commissioners will explore some ideas after residents voted yes on a few key issues.

The possibility of combining the Grants Pass Police Department and Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received just over 57% of the vote in favor of the idea. County commissioners say the next step is to meet with city officials to see what is realistic.

An advisory question about the possibility of a local sales tax to relive some burden of property tax was voted down with 77% voting no.
