Volunteers Serve Grants Pass

Volunteers Serve Grants PassGRANTS PASS, Ore. — More than 1,000 volunteers are teaming up to serve Grants Pass this week.

Sunday kicked off the seven days of projects that aim to improve businesses, homes and public property. Dozens of churches are participating in the event.

About 300 volunteers were at the Josephine County Fairgrounds Sunday doing various chores to spruce up the place. Several volunteers also spent Sunday morning cleaning up downtown Grants Pass.

Volunteers plan to continue to work throughout the week doing everything from installing carpet at the Women’s Crisis Center, to painting local school buildings. River Valley Community Church’s Duane Stark is eager to help.

“We really want to serve those organizations that serve our community on a daily basis throughout the year and that’s why we’re places like the fairgrounds and all those other non-profits and schools.”

This is the most wonderful news for Grants Pass. I’ve been meaning to write to the safety dept. and thank them for being there every time the citizens in my area have needed them. The police are overworked but they are still there for you. We are cleaning up our neighborhood here too.
