MEDFORD, Ore. — A major expansion could be on the way for Medford’s newest charter school.
On Monday, the Medford School Board will vote on an application from Vibes’ Charter School to create a full-day kindergarten program.
If accepted, the kindergarten classrooms would be built in what is now the front reception and events area of the building. Tom Cole, the executive director of the school, says it’s part of a five year plan to expand their student body from 150 kids to 250 across all grades.
The decision to offer full-year kindergarten also pre-empts a statewide move from half-day to full-day starting fall of 2015. Cole says Monday’s school board vote is the last major step remaining in getting approval.
The Vibes Kindergarten Program could be up and running as early as fall of next year.
