Vandals of Shady Cove Park Wanted

SHADY COVE, Ore. – Police are looking for the individual(s) who vandalized Aunt Caroline’s Park in Shady Cove earlier this month.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report August 1st after a maintenance worker for the city reported the incident the night before. An unknown person allegedly used a chainsaw to do the acts of vandalism.

The individual cut down two trees, 1.5 feet in diameter and 4 inches in diameter, cut a 3×3 foot hole in the pumphouse, as well as sawed two picnic seat benches in half. The day prior to the report, it was discovered one of the park benches had been damaged with a chainsaw as well. It was replaced before being vandalized again.

Officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying whoever performed these acts. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Callers can remain anonymous.
