Vagrancy Down through Team of Officers

NITGRANTS PASS, Ore. — The rented jail beds through the Josephine County jail are helping a special team of officers in Grants Pass reduce vagrancy problems.

The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety says its Nuisance Intervention Team or NIT is one of the most successful ideas its launched for the city. The team of police officers go out each week to target the problematic areas in the city like Baker Park and the downtown area.

Since launching the special team, officers have cited 75 people, handed out 45 warnings and made 9 arrests.
