GOLD HILL, Ore. — Two people are behind bars after burglarizing a Gold Hill home. To catch the accused burglars, the neighborhood is banding together. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 50-year-old Rex Stansell, and 35-year-old Melissa Crandell after they allegedly broke into a home on the 600 block of 6th street around 7 p.m. Thursday night.
One neighbor noticed the break-in and dialed 911. Meanwhile the burglars escaped from the home, running off with belongs. Neighbors started chasing after the suspects and eventually caught up with them and cornered them until police got there.
“We just started following him… and he took off running down here, and my husband and I were on his butt along with a couple of other ones in the neighborhood,” said a Gold Hill neighbor who prefers to remain anonymous.
The items taken from the house were recovered. Stansell is being charged with burglary, trespassing, possession of a Burglar’s Tools, and carrying a concealed weapon. Crandell is being charged with burglary, trespassing, and theft.
