Two Arrested on Embezzlement Charges

MEDFORD, Ore. – A 34-year old Central Point woman has been charged with aggravated theft after Medford Police said  she embezzled approximately $175,000 from Western Lumber for personal living expenses.

Amanda Shannon worked for the company from May 2010 through November 2012 and was let go for reasons unrelated to the investigation. After terminating Shannon, the business noticed unusual fund transfers which resulted in them contacting police.

Over the course of her two years with Western Lumber, a detective working on the case discovered Shannon had been depositing the businesses’ money into not only her credit card account, but her boyfriend’s as well. Her boyfriend was identified as Kevin Chesnut, 35 years old and also of Central Point.

Chesnut was cited and released, while Shannon was arrested and charged with seven counts of aggravated theft and one count of theft.
