MEDFORD, Ore. — A report of a fire brings crews to the scene of a location that may have housed hazardous materials. It happened this afternoon at a building near the Rrrrrink Ice Skating Facility in south Medford.
Reports of smoke and flames were called in by people passing by the area. Fire crews responded and quickly knocked down the fire. They took necessary precautions after noticing warning signs on the building.
“The fire wasn’t that big but the potential was there. It’s a big building behind us. It has placards on the the outside that indicated there may be hazardous chemicals inside,” said Justin Bates with Medford Fire.
The cause of the 2-alarm fire was not immediately apparent. Responders say the fire appeared to have started outside the building at a power meter. No injuries were reported.
