Tuition Equality In Oregon Legislation

SALEM, Ore. – Democratic lawmakers in Oregon are hopeful that they will be able to give the benefit of in-state tuition for Oregon high school students living in this country illegally.

All attempts at tuition equality legislation have failed so far, but Democrats now have a majority in the Oregon House and Senate, and Governor John Kitzhaber has said he will sign the bill if it reaches his desk.

Currently, students who live in the United States illegally are considered out-of-state residents.
