Many people near and far have traveled to Newport over the last several weeks, to see what is possibly the largest piece of tsunami debris to wash up on an Oregon beach so far.
Now the chance of seeing it is almost gone. Crews will begin dismantling the dock today. Because of the heavy equipment, the public will be blocked from the immediate area, which is why some came from as far as Idaho to see the dock which made it’s own very long journey from Japan.
Crews plan on cutting the dock into five sections. It’s expected to begin late-afternoon today and last a few days.
