NEAR GRANTS PASS, Ore. — An Oregon State Police trooper shot and injured a dog while making an arrest Saturday morning at the scene of a disturbance at a residence near Grants Pass.
On Saturday morning, Police responded to reports of a disturbance at the 5800 block of Fish Hatchery Road south of Grants Pass. Residents told police that an intoxicated woman came to their home and was outside yelling and making threats toward them and their dogs.
The suspect, 45-year-old Dawn Hemry-Boyle had a pit bull dog with her and also threatened to have her dog attack the resident’s dogs. While attempting to arrest the suspect, OSP says a trooper was attacked by the dog and shot it in self-defense.
The trooper was treated for a minor injury at a local hospital. The dog ran away and was found later that evening, taken to a veterinarian and was euthanized due to its injury.
