PHOENIX, Ore. — Tree clearing on I-5 for the Phoenix interchange project has been re-scheduled because of wet weather.
O-DOT says the brush and tree clearing will begin once the grounds dry out in the Phoenix area near North Phoenix and Fern Valley Roads. This part of the project is expected to last about two weeks.
The larger interchange improvement project construction will not begin until early 2014. The new interchange is called a diverted diamond interchange and will be the only one of its kind in Oregon and on the west coast.
The interchange essentially takes out all left turns allowing traffic to move through the intersection quickly and eliminating congestion all together.
