MEDFORD, Ore. — Free tours are starting up this weekend for the Holly Theater in downtown Medford.
The Holly was one of the five grand movie theaters in Medford back in the 1930’s. It opened in 1930 and shut down in the 1980s.
Developers are trying to get the theater back up and running, but they have ran into financial problems along the way. The theater is now offering free tours in hopes of raising money and gaining supporters.
One woman remembers the theater back in its glory days and hopes it can become grand once again.
‘My best friend and I used to dress up every Friday night in our best dresses and high heels and go out to the movies which is a little different than the way people go to the movies now,” said Eleanor Clifford, a Rogue Valley resident
Construction on the inside of the Holly Theater is set to start in the spring of 2014. Developers say they are aiming for it to be completed by spring of 2015.
